The horrifying details of the case indicate that Cossette is accused of strangling the young victim, dismembering her body, concealing the remains, and then attempting to set his apartment ablaze while allegedly trying to end his own life. The tragic series of events have left the community in shock and mourning for Sara Goodwin.

The disappearance of Goodwin prompted a significant response from her family and friends, who, along with community activist Quanell X, held a press conference on February 17 to raise awareness about her case. The last sighting of Goodwin was near the intersection of South Course Drive and Bissonnet Street in southwest Houston on February 6, where witnesses reported her being forcibly pulled into a white 2015-2017 model Honda CRV by an unidentified man.

Quanell X, who has been actively involved in advocating for justice in the case, alleged that the same man, identified as Cossette by authorities, was seen at the same intersection attempting to lure two other women into his vehicle.
